Published | Oct 29, 2020

1. Select the Shape

In Visio click on the Shape that you want to edit the Categories.

2. Open the Categories window

Press the “Categories” button located in the States and Categories group, in AseptSoft ribbon.

Note:  In Visio each shape has a master. If you add more valves with drag and drop from a Master, then all of them will share the same master.

Now you have to chose what categories to edit:

  • The categories of All the shapes that share the same master
  • Just the selected shape

3. Edit for all instances at once

In the “All Instances” tab you can edit the categories that will apply to all the shapes sharing the same Master.

4. Edit for the selected shape only

In the “Selected Shape” tab you can edit the categories that will apply to this shape only. you have here 3 options for each category:

  • Checked: The current shape has that category assigned
  • Unchecked: The current shape does not have that category assigned
  • Intermeditae (checked and gray): The current shape has nothing specified about that category, so the value from the “All Instances” tab will be inherited.

Note: Checked and Unchecked have higher priority in the “Selected Shape” than in the “All Instances”. If you can’t acces a category from a shape even if in “All Instances” it is checked, then see the “Selected Shape” as well.

4. Apply

Apply the changes by pressing the “OK” button located in the bottom right corner of the window.

Save

Press the “Save” button in the AseptSoft ribbon.
